Rubik’s Cube Continues To Hit The Headlines!

Did you know that 80% of visual impairment is avoidable? Restorations of sight, and blindness prevention strategies are among the most cost-effective interventions in health care. There are around 285 million people in the world who live with low vision and blindness. Of these, 39 million people are blind with 90% living in low-income countries. There are an estimated 19 million children who are visually impaired. 

Sensory toys are a vital lifeline for these kids, encouraging them to interact and explore their surroundings, playing a critical role in helping kids develop learning skills from a young age. At Rubik’s, we strongly believe that every child should have the resources to play. That’s why we’re getting involved in World Sight Day - to help raise awareness and encourage global support. 

In October 2013 we launched a brand new product, the Rubik’s Touch Cube. The idea behind the Touch cube was to give individuals with impaired vision the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of the Rubik’s cube. We decided to introduce a cube with embossed shapes instead of braille so that  the cube would be accessible to all, regardless of where in the world they were living.
