There are many ways of getting faster, for example lubricating or modifying your cube parts. However a very important step to getting fast is to use a more efficient method, one that uses fewer moves. Here we will describe a slightly more advanced version of the method presented in our solution guide. This guide assumes that you already know how to solve a Rubik’s Cube using our method. First we will describe a cube notation system used by competitive cubing communities around the world. Their notation is only slightly different to the one in the solution guide. Generally cubers use “ ‘ “ instead of “i” to denote an anticlockwise turn, for example “R’ “ instead of “Ri”. Also there are slice moves, which you will find useful in some of the algorithms in the last step. Here are diagrams of them, to notate a turn in the opposite direction, just like for other moves, put a “ ‘ “ after the letter.
To get faster you can start using more efficient turning styles, such as using your fingers to turn rather than your wrists. Try turning the upper layer with your index fingers, or the bottom layer with your ring fingers. For some ideas check out this video on Fingertricks
This method can get you to around 25 seconds or faster. Here is an overview of it. As you can see it’s very similar to the method in our solution guide, however how each individual step is actually done is differently. We will give you some tips on how to make each step’s execution more efficient.
