Help get the Rubik’s Cube into the National Toy Hall of Fame

May 3rd 2014 by Chris Durnford
Help induct the Rubik’s Cube into the National Toy Hall of Fame®! Nominate the Rubik’s Cube

Northwood Elementary School in New York has been working hard to get the Rubik’s Cube nominated to be inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame®. Students chose the Rubik’s Cube as the toy that they thought most deserved to be inducted. They worked together in groups to conduct research and present their arguments for induction to The Strong National Museum of Play. For more information about what Northwood Elementary School has been doing to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the invention of the Rubik’s Cube visit their website.

You could be a part of it too! If you think that the Rubik’s Cube fulfils the criteria to be nominated then why not be a part of history and help to get the Rubik’s Cube inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame ®.

The criteria are:

Icon-status: Is the Rubik’s Cube widely recognized, respected, and remembered?

Longevity: Is the Rubik’s Cube more than a passing fad and has it enjoyed popularity over multiple generations?

Discovery: Does the Rubik’s Cube foster learning, creativity, or discovery through play?

Innovation: Has the Rubik’s Cube profoundly changed play or toy design?

If you believe, as Northwood Elementary School does, that the answer to these questions is yes then nominate us for induction into the National Toy Hall of Fame®. The more nominations we receive, the higher the likelihood the Rubik’s Cube is inducted.

You can nominate the Rubik’s Cube to be inducted here

It has been 40 years since the Rubik’s Cube was first invented. Celebrate our 40th Anniversary with us by helping Rubik’s Cube get inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame®.
